Dr. Lorin A.
Burt, described as one of the nation's
outstanding young men in the field of
education, served as executive secretary
to the Indiana School Boards Association
from 1960 to1967. Following Dr. Burt's
death in 1968, a memorial award was
devised to be given annually to an
outstanding educator for “overall
excellence in contributions to Indiana
education.”
IMPORTANT:
Nominee will not be considered
for Lorin A. Burt Outstanding Educator
Award if candidate's accomplishments
relate to his/her role as a school board
member. For school board service, board
member nominations must be submitted for
the Outstanding Boardmanship Award.
The
Indiana School Boards Association
presents annually the Lorin A. Burt
Outstanding Educator Award for
outstanding contribution to education.
Criteria to be used for selection of
nominees are:

The nominee must have made a
significant contribution to Indiana
public education or to education in
his/her community through meritorious
service in roles that may include but
not be limited to that of teacher,
administrator, college professor, or
other comparable educator role.
·
The nomination need not be
restricted to the year in which the
award is given, but may be for a
singular experience in any one year or
for accumulative experiences over a
period of years.
·
The nominations may be submitted
by a majority decision of an Indiana
school board, a superintendent of any
Indiana school corporation, or an
individual school board member, if the
local school board is a member of ISBA.
·
The nominating data should
include the name of the nominee and the
contributions upon which the nomination
is based.
·
The nomination deadline of July
16, 2011, will be strictly followed.
·
The recipient will be honored at
the ISBA/IAPSS Fall Conference First
General Session on Monday, September
26th at the Indiana Convention Center.
