Indiana Council of School Attorneys
The Indiana School Boards Association has established the Indiana Council of School Attorneys (ICOSA). The primary purpose of ICOSA is to identify the current legal issues impacting attorneys who advise school boards, to disseminate legal information and analysis to its members, and to promote the exchange of legal information and analysis among the members.
ICOSA is governed by an Executive Committee and currently has four committees that address specific topics for the Council: (1) bargaining/human resources; (2) legislative; (3) litigation/amicus support; and (4) membership. The ISBA Legal Staff serves as liaisons to each of the committees.
Other activities of ICOSA include two meetings a year and virtual discussions of pertinent issues. ICOSA members are also members of the national Council of School Attorneys and have access to their resources at a reduced rate.
Membership in ICOSA is open to any attorney who represents a school corporation or other educational entity that is a member of ISBA and who is in good standing with the bar of Indiana.
